Massive disconnection drive launched by APDCL in Silchar
July 2: Assam power Distribution Company Limited has launched a massive disconnection drive in the state for non-payment of electricity bill. In Silchar too, APDCL employees have started disconnecting electricity lines in several places. On Friday, disconnection drive was carried on by Silchar Electrical Sub-Division-II in Barik Nagar area.
Earlier on Wednesday, 13 street light points under Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) have been disconnected on Tuesday. The areas under SMB where street light were disconnected are Greater Link road area, Greater Das Colony area, Portion of Sonai Road & Portion of Hailakandi Road. In a message to the electricity consumers, APDCL officials stated, “Defaulting consumers BEWARE!!! Our team is ready to disconnect your line for non-payment of energy bills.”
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “This year, during the month of June, in cordial response to our request and effort, the electricity consumers of Assam have experienced a very improved rate in the payment of electricity bills, due to which Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. has been successful in breaking all records to collect a total amount of Rs. 508.48 crores in the month of June. Prior to this, APDCL has never been able to cross the mark of Rs. 500 crores ever, in the month of June, in any of previous years.”
“I hereby offer my heartfelt thanks to all the officials of APDCL and all the respected electricity consumers of Assam. If the consumers continue to collaborate in such a manner and the officials of APDCL keep up the good work, then within a short span of time, APDCL will be successful in proving itself a profitable organization and thereby the consumers can experience a regularized, improved and easily accessible electricity in near future,” added the Chief Minister.
