Major earthquake measuring 6.1 strikes Barak Valley along with the rest of NE India
Nov 25: A major earthquake jolted entire North East India including Barak Valley and its adjoining areas at 5.15 AM on Friday. The origin of the earthquake was in Mizoram. The magnitude of the quake was 6.1 (status reviewed) in the Richter Scale. The quake lasted for around 50 seconds. Though most of the people were in sleep, yet the tremors were strong enough to wake up many.

As per National Center for Seismology (NCS), it was stated, “Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 26-11-2021, 05:15:38 IST, Lat: 22.77 & Long: 93.23, Depth: 12 Km ,Location: 73km SE of Thenzawl, Mizoram, India “. However, there were no report of any casualties till the filing of this report.
