Lockdown 5.0 ! Amit Shah briefs PM Modi on views expressed by CMs

May 29: Lockdown 4 comes to an end on 31 May, 2020. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to all chief ministers on Thursday and sought their views on extension of the ongoing nationwide lockdown beyond 31 May. On the basis of the feedback received from the Chief Ministers, Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior officials on Friday to discuss the way forward.

The Home Minister briefed PM Modi on the discussions he earlier held with chief ministers of various states. The choice between restarting the economy and containing the spread of coronavirus will be a tight rope walk. As per reports, most CMs were in favour of extending the lockdown by atleast 2 weeks, but at the same time were looking at further relaxations on various economic activities. The decision on the lockdown is expected to be announced before 31 May.
