Lions Club of Silchar Lioness donates ₹50,000 to CMs Relief Fund
April 8: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has become a major issue especially for those whose income depends on the daily wage they get in return for their work. However, with the declaration of national lockdown for 21 days, millions have become jobless. To help the people many individuals, organisations and business community have come forward to help the people in this crisis. On Wednesday, Lions Club of Silchar Lioness donated an amount of ₹50,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal was on one-day tour of Barak Valley. The members of Lions Club of Silchar Lioness handed over the cheque of ₹50,000 to the Chief Minister in the premises of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. Club’s Chartered President. Lion Ipshita Dutta and present Secretary Lion Paramita Paul handed over the cheque to Sarbananda Sonowal.
Speaking to way2barak, Lion Paromita said, “Actually the fund was collected from a cultural event organised by the club on 19 January, 2020 and we are also thankful to Mr Venugopal B.N for extending his suppprt by not taking any fees for his performance as it was a charity show.”
