Leo Club of Silchar distributes saree in Chencuree Tea Estate
October 1: The festival of Durga Puja is celebrated with fervor in over here at Silchar, but it’s celebration with due fervor is a distant dream for the poor and underprivileged. Celebrating the festival with new clothes is a tradition but such celebrations is impossible for the poorest of the poor who live with no income or no proper roof above their head.
Taking these factors into consideration, Leo Club of Silchar along with Lions Club of Silchar Lioness distributed sarees among the women of Chencuree Tea Estate on Tuesday.
With Durga Puja knocking at the doors, the people, are busy shopping purchasing new clothes to wear during the Puja days. Hardly people feel for those who are live from hand to mouth. Speaking to way2barak, Anupriya Deb President of Leo Club of Silchar said, “We are indeed fortunate enough as we have got an opportunity to be a hawker of smiles. The smiles of excitement on the face of the ladies who were given saree is worth many million dollars. Their happiness is our fuel to move ahead in life. I also would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our parent organization Lions Club of Silchar Lioness for their immense support. ”
