Leo Club of Silchar Central holds online interactive session with 2 Kargil heroes

July 27: On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday, Leo Club of Silchar Central took the initiative and conducted an online session with two soldiers who were themselves part of the Kargil War. One of the online session was conducted with Colonel Sameer Anukul who was a member of parachute regiment who has operated in various locations of our country and has been in combat in Sri Lanka, Siachen Glacier and Kargil. Col. Sameer Anukul has been awarded for gallantry in KARGIL on Zoom meeting, where all the Lion dignitaries, Leos and many other guests were invited.

The other online session was conducted with Major (Retd.) Manidhan Singha who joined the Indian Army in the Bihar regiment in 1985. He has served in various places of the country with two stints in Kargil, first as a 2nd Lieutenant and during Kargil War as a Captain. On Sunday, he too was an invited brave-heart in the Facebook Live from the official page of Leo Club of Silchar Central.

Leo Ankita Banik was the moderator of both the sessions. It was an wonderful interactive session with both the soldiers. They narrated their experiences during the mission. The Leo’s later told that it was really history coming alive to listen directly from the horses mouth about how they fought for 2 months 3 weeks and 2 days to recapture the Indian posts in Kargil.
