Kite festival organised by Cachar dist admin to create voters awareness
March 26: As a part of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation programme in connection with Assembly Election, 2021, Cachar District Administration organised a mega voter awareness through kite festival at the bank of river Barak at Rangpur adjacent to Sadarghat bridge, Silchar for awareness among the electors of the district on Friday.
Deputy commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the event in presence of Circle Officer attached at Sonai Bikash Chetri ALRS who is also a nodal officer of SVEEP Cell. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Jalli said, “Under the umbrella programme of Garv Cachar for voter awareness, we are celebrating all the elements that make Cachar special to remind our voters that voting as a right is not just our pride, but our legacy too. We celebrated Earth of Cachar through Rangoli. We have celebrated environment through Sand Art festival and this time, we have celebrated wind for voter awareness through the kite festival”.
Referring to the voter awareness message written in the kite, DC further said, “The kites that will get cut and fall on someone’s house will also get the voter awareness message in it. They have been asked to vote on April 1”.
She also called on everyone to cast their vote on this day.
Circle officer attached Sonai LAC and nodal officer of SVEEP Cell Bikash Chhetri said it was a creative move. Further steps will be taken to make voters interested in voting. The SVEEP cell, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Cachar and Nehru Yuva Kendra were in collaboration with the Cachar district administration for the event. Other government officials were also present during the occasion. The young generation spontaneously took part in the kite festival.
Around 500 participants took part in kite festival organised by District Administration Cachar and the people gathered to witness the kite festival enjoyed this innovative event and appreciated the festive event. Later, winners were rewarded with cash prizes and memento by the District Administration.
