Kidnapped businessman of Silchar rescued from Vairengte in Mizoram

way2barak, Dec.4: A businessman kidnapped from Silchar in Assam on on Saturday night was rescued from Mizoram on Sunday. The businessman identified as Selim Uddin Barbhuyan was kidnapped by miscreants from Sonai Road, Silchar by threatening him with sharp weapons. It was after that the family of the victim lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Out Post, Silchar. His family members revealed that the kidnappers also demanded money for his release.

Investigating the same, a police team traced him in the Vairengte area of Mizoram’s Kolasib district on Sunday. He was found in a house of a Mizo divorcee woman, who reportedly runs an illegal racket at Varengti. Sources revealed that the victim and the accused persons had some financial relation of local raw supari trade. Police has apprehended the kidnapper(s), but has refused to divulge the details.
