Karimganj Police team felicitated with appreciation letters & cash award of ₹2 lakh for recovering heroin worth ₹75 cr

way2barak, Oct.21: The Karimganj Police team which recovered a record breaking consignment of 9.477 kgs heroin on 11 October, 2022 and has been continuously working on the case was felicitated today with appreciation letters and a cash award of Rs 2 lakhs from ADGP, SB, Guwahati.

Karimganj Police and BSF G branch together recovered 9.46KGs of Heroin from a secret chamber in a truck on 11 October. The heroin is worth over Rs. 75 crores in the open market. This is a fine example of Police work that involves gathering of credible intelligence and result oriented actions, worth emulating by rest of the districts.

Earlier, praising the role of Karimganj Police, DGP Assam said, “In the 3rd SP Conference at Dergaon, I spoke about tightening the noose even further around the drugs business… and i’m proud of Karimganj Police who followed my suggestion with one of the biggest drug hauls in Assam! Well done boys!”

Further, on Police Commemoration Day, Karimganj Police remembered those police personnel who laid down their lives in line of duty. “We bow down our heads in the face of their supreme sacrifice. May their families keep getting strength and may the souls of those valiant souls always rest in peace,” stated the district Police of Karimganj.
