Karimganj District administration prepares itself for severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’
May 3:In the backdrop of the extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’, which is likely to move towards Northeast India within the next 2 days, Karimganj District Administration has officially given an alert message in this regard. Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of District Disaster Management, Karimganj issued a letter to all the Circle Officers of the district.
The ADC informed the Circle Officers about a direction given by the State Emergency Operation Centre, Dispur, wherein it was stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in various parts of the state as an aftermath of Fani on 4 and 5 May, 2019. In this backdrop, the Circle Officers were asked to take all precautionary measures and to keep vigil on the situation to avoid any loss and damages in the district due to heavy rainfall.
According to the latest forecast by the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JWTC), Fani, is the most severe cyclonic storm since the super cyclone of 1999 that devastated large parts of the country.
