Karimganj Civil Hospital soon to be converted into COVID-19 hospital
Team led by MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy inspects preparedness
May 26: With the sudden increase in COVID-19 positive cases in Barak Valley amongst migrants, the resources at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) was reassessed in terms of bed capacity, doctors and paramedics strength. As such, on the direction of State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, a team led by Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy went to Karimganj Civil Hospital on Tuesday to assess the preparedness as regards treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Along with Dr. Rajdeep Roy were present Deputy Commissioner of Karimganj Anbamuthan MP, MLA Krishnendu Paul, Superintendent of SMVH Dr. Abhijit Swami along with other officials. However, till the time all arrangements are put up in proper order, any COVID-19 patient from Karimganj will be treated at SMCH. Informing this Dr. Rajdeep Roy said that, it will take another 2 to 3 days for making Karimganj Civil Hospital ready as a COVID-19 hospital. He said, “A good planning is half the battle won.”
Later on, Dr. Rajdeep Roy accompanied by DC Karimganj and other took stock of the arrangements made at Badarpur railway station. Passengers of Barak Valley are arriving at Badarpur by train where they are initially screened and sent to their respective districts.
