Karimganj administration direct users of licensed firearms to deposit them at police station

Jan. 25: In view of the ensuing Assam Assembly Election, 2021, the administrative branch of the Officer of the Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj directed all the licensed holder(s) of arms & ammunition of the district to deposit them in their respective police station by 31 January, 2021 without fail. The arms and ammunition so deposited will be returned back to the license holder(s) by the concerned police station after declaration of the election result on submitting their receipts.

 The order further stated that, “On non-compliance of the order by any license holder(s) will be liable for legal action under provision of Arms Act, 1959 including cancellation of the license. The order will come into force with immediate effect.”
