১৪ নভেম্বর রসগোল্লা দিবস পালন করবে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার
Rosogolla Day to be celebrated by West Bengal on 14 Nov

১০ নভেম্বর : ‘আমি কলকাতার রসগোল্লা, কখনও বালিগঞ্জে কখনও টালিগঞ্জে, কখনও শ্যামবাজারে, কখনও বাগবাজারে।’ রসগোল্লা নিয়ে বহুশ্রুত গান। একসময় মনে হয়, এই গানটিই বিখ্যাত করেছে বাঙালির প্রিয় এই মিষ্টিকে। আবার বিপরীত দিক থেকে ভাবলে রসগোল্লার জনপ্রিয়তা দেখে এই গান বাঁধা হয়েছে। এ নিয়ে তর্কে না গিয়ে বরং বাঙালি একটা পুরো দিন রসগোল্লা খেয়ে কাটিয়ে দিতে পারে। সম্ভবত এই ভাবনা থেকেই এ বার রসগোল্লা দিবস পালন করতে চলেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার।  ভৌগলিক সূচক হিসেবে বাঙালির প্রিয় এই মিষ্টি নিরূপণ হওয়ার বছর পূর্তি হিসেবে আগামী ১৪ নভেম্বর রাজ্য সরকার রসগোল্লা দিবস পালন করবে।

হিডকো চেয়ারম্যান দেবাশিস সেন বলেন, নিউ টাউন এলাকার ইকো পার্কের একটি অংশে মিষ্টির স্টলে রসগোল্লার নানা প্রকার সাজিয়ে রাখা হবে। ইকো পার্কের দেখাশোনার দায়িত্বে রয়েছে হিডকো অর্থাৎ ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল হাউসিং ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশন।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের অতিরিক্ত মুখ্য সচিব পর্যায়ের আধিকারিক সেন বলেন, ‘বাঙালির প্রিয় রসগোল্লা ভৌগোলিক সূচক হওয়ার এক বছর পূর্তি আমরা পালন করতে চলেছি। সুইট মিট মেকার অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সহায়তায় মিষ্টি হাবে এই দিনটি পালন করা হবে। এ বছরের ৫ জুলাই এই মিষ্টি হাব খোলা হয়েছে।  এটি রাজ্যে এ ধরনের একমাত্র হাব যেখানে কিছু ঐতিহ্যশালী মিষ্টি প্রস্তুতকারক সহ নামি সুইট মিট মেকারস এক ছাদের নিচে রয়েছেন।

ওই আধিকারিক আরও বলেন, মিষ্টি রসে ডুবানো গোলাকার ছানার তৈরি সুস্বাদু খাবার নিয়ে এ দিনে আলোচনাও অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। তিনি বলেন, গত বছরের ১৪ নভেম্বর বাংলার রসগোল্লার জন্য ভৌগোলিক সূচক স্বীকৃতি পায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গ। প্রসঙ্গত,  জিওগ্রাফিক্যাল আইডেনটিফিকেশন বা জিআই ট্যাগ হল একটি বিশেষ চিহ্ন বা মাত্রা, যা কোনও একটি সামগ্রীকে একটি নির্দিষ্ট স্থান থেকে মূল উৎপাদিত সামগ্রী হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয়।

November 10: Here is a good news for the Rosogolla lovers. West Bengal government decided to observe ‘Rosogolla Day’ on November 14, to commemorate the first anniversary of the state’s famous sweet getting Geographical Indication (GI) tag as ‘Bengal’s Rosogolla.’ On November 14 last year, West Bengal had received the GI tag for rosogolla, ending a fierce debate that lasted for two and a half years. The GI tag is a sign that identifies a product as originating from a particular place.

While the West Bengal had received the GI tag for ‘Bengal’s Rosogolla’ while the Odisha failed to get GI tag till date. Odisha is in the process of obtaining the GI tag for Odishara Rasagola.

Different varieties of rosogollas would be showcased in the stalls of the ‘Mishti Hub’ (Sweetmeat Hub), set up in one part of the Eco Park in New Town area of Kolkata. The Eco Park is managed by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), a state PSU.

The ‘Mishti hub’, opened on July 5 this year, is the only of its kind in state where renowned sweetmeat-makers, including some of the traditional ones, shared roof. As per report, varieties of rosogollas would be showcased in stalls of the ‘Mishti Hub’ (Sweetmeat Hub). Haripada Bhaumik, Tarun Goswami and others will be present on the occasion. They will discuss the history of the rosogolla, a ball-shaped cottage cheese dipped in light syrup of sugar.
