Kamrup schools remain closed upto 27th
way2barak, 24 Sept: In Kamrup district all government, provincialised, and private schools will be closed from September 24 to September 27 due to excessive heat and rising temperatures.
“Based on the reports received from Head of the Institutions of different schools under Kamrup Metro regarding various incidents of ill-health and fainting of students due to excessive heat and dehydration and with due approval from District Commissioner, Kamrup Metro, it has been decided that all Govt/ Provincialised/ Private schools functioning under Kamrup Metro district are to remain close from 24th to 27th September 2024 due to excessive heat and rising temperature in the district,” an order issued by District Elementary Education Officer read.
Authorities stated that the decision has been taken in order to safeguard the students from the ill-effects of exposure to excessive heat, thereby ensuring the health and well-being of the students.
Due to heatwave conditions in parts of Assam, authorities have adjusted school timings in several areas. On Friday, the Assam government released new guidelines to protect students’ health during this extreme weather.
Officials at the regional meteorological office in Guwahati have stated that these conditions are expected to continue for another 3 to 4 days.
