Jagdeep Dhankar elected as 14th Vice President of India

Aug. 6: Former Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankar was elected as the 14th Vice President of India. He was the NDA candidate for this post. Dhankar defeated Congress leader Margaret Alva.

Jagdeep Dhankhar was declared elected as the Vice President of India on Saturday after he bagged 528 votes against his rival candidate Margaret Alva’s 182. Dhankhar, 71, will succeed M Venkaiah Naidu who demits office August 10.
