Is Assam a foreign country that we need separate testing procedure, asks APCC Spokesperson
Nov. 15: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Senior Spokesperson and its General Secretary in-charge Bobbeeta Sharma in a series of tweets raised several questions on the Covid-19 testing procedure followed in Assam. In a tweet, Bobbeeta Sharma wrote, “Why do people who arrive by flight to Guwahati have to go to Sarusajai & test for Covid even now? This procedure is not followed anywhere in the country. It is complete harassment of common man & should be lifted @himantabiswa @sarbanandsonwal @MoHFW_INDIA.” She also wrote, “Is Assam a foreign country that we need seperate procedures for Assam? Nowhere in rest of country this is going on. I hope @mygovassam, @mygovindia will look into it. @narendramodi, @PMOIndia.”
Assam is following golden rules of Testing, tracking and Isolating in its fight against Covid 19. Result is there for everyone to see. Lowest mortality, 98% recovery. Our own policy is paying rich dividend so far. Therefore we are not following other states completely https://t.co/j9mhqWdcK2

Replying to her tweet, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Assam is following golden rules of Testing, tracking and Isolating in its fight against Covid 19. Result is there for everyone to see. Lowest mortality, 98% recovery. Our own policy is paying rich dividend so far. Therefore we are not following other states completely.”
Bobbeeta Sharma against replied, “While we appreciate your efforts and if indeed it is paying rich dividends then my suggestion is to devise a system whereby it reduces waiting time for testing significantly & hence prevents unnecessary harassment.”
At present, there are 3,964 active cases in Assam. The positivity rate in the state has now also come to 0.79.
