Interactive session for drama students organised by Dept of Performing Arts of Assam Univ
Dec. 8: The dept of performing arts, drama discipline, Assam University has organised an interactive session for drama students with Adrija Das Gupta on directors work. Approximately, 12 students of drama have participated in the discussion. The speaker Adrija said, “The important feature of drama is the text and the art of performing as per the script. The aesthetic part of theatre should be maintained during the performance.”
She discussed plays like Macbeth and how these plays are interpreted in contemporary praxis. She also discussed the poems of Rabindranath Tagore and stated how these poems should be imparted and discussed the possible forms.
Jagannath Barman, Head of the Department, appreciated the activities initiated for the drama students. He interacted with students and encouraged them to participate such events. Santanu Paul from Bhabikal Theatre also participated in the event. He further said that it is a good opportunity for students to interact with renowned people from the world of theatre and these kind of interaction enhances the ability to understand theatre.
