India to get Russian vaccine Sputnik V by May-end
April 22: After Covishield and Covaxin, Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V has been recommended for emergency use authorisation in India. Dr Redyy’s Laboratoris, the local distributor of Sputnik V informed that India will start receiving this vaccine only by May-end. Dr. Reddy’s further informed that Sputnik Vis going to be made in India within a few months.
Sputnik V will become the third Covid-19 vaccine to be used in the country after Covishield and Covaxin. Sputnik V developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology was registered by the Ministry of Health of Russia and became the world’s first registered vaccine against COVID-19 based on the established human adenoviral vector platform.
