India reports 50,040 new Covid cases in last 24 hours, 1,258 fatalities

June 27:  In the last 24 hours, 50,040 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in India taking the cumulative caseload to 3,02,33,183 said the Union health ministry on Sunday. The death count increased to 3,31,895 with 1,258 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 AM showed. The number of active Covid-19 cases in India has declined to 586,403 or 1.97% of the total cases. As many as 29,251,029 patients have been cured of Covid-19 till now, with 57,944 of them being discharged in the last 24 hours alone.

On the brighter side, the daily recoveries continue to surpass fresh infections as 57,944 were discharged between Saturday and Sunday. With this, the total number of discharges has gone up to 2,92,51,029 and the recovery rate has improved to 96.75%.
