India records 2,71,202 fresh Covid cases, Omicron tally goes upto 7,743 on Sunday

Jan. 16: India logged 2,71,202 new Covid cases, marginally higher than yesterday, while the active cases rose to 15,50,377 according to the Union health ministry data updated on Sunday. As many as 314 people have died of Covid during the past 24-hour period, according to the Health Ministry. Further, 1,38,331 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours. A total of 3,50,85,721 patients were recovered till now. Apart from this, 7,743 Omicron cases were detected so far, which means an increase of 28.17% since yesterday. The daily positivity rate stands at 16.28%.
