India loses her Nightingale, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away
2-day national mourning declared over Lata Mangeshkar's death
Feb. 6: India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at 8.12 AM on Sunday due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. She was 92. A two-day national mourning was declared by the Union government. During this, the National flag will fly at half-mast for two days, as a mark of respect and there will be no official entertainment. A state funeral will be accorded to the late singer.
The 92-year-old singer tested positive for Covid with mild symptoms and was admitted on January 8 at Breach Candy Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) where she was being treated by Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors.
Lata mangeshkar’s last rites will be conducted with full state honours at Shivaji Parkin Mumbai at 6.30 PM. Her mortal remains will be taken from the hospital to her residence at around 12.30 PM.

Earlier, Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar was back on the ventilator after her health deteriorated and was undergoing “aggressive therapy” on Saturday. The veteran singer’s health condition had deteriorated on 5 February. Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital had earlier said that she is “critical” and was put on a ventilator. “
She has sung in more than 36 languages and has got to her credit more than 30,000 songs.
