Incidental Charge of ₹200! ABVP Unit of Cachar College gives memorandum to DC
Feb. 23: Cachar College, Silchar is collecting Rs 200 from the students who have arrear in any paper/subject in the name of so-called ‘Incidental Charge.’ Such charge is imposed on the students in addition to the fees specified by the affiliating Assam University. Such an allegation against the college was raised by the Cachar College Unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
In this connection, the ABVP Unit of Cachar College submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar on Tuesday. In the said memorandum, the students’ group alleged that Cachar College is collecting Rs. 200 from the students of TDC who are having arrear papers in the name of ‘Incidental Charge.’ Speaking to way2barak, they further stated, “Interestingly the Principal of the college has not issued any notice or order for such collection. Moreover, no money receipt is provided to the students for the ‘Incidental Charge’ of Rs.200 which they are forcibly collecting from the students.”
Ashit Kumar Das, President of ABVP Unit of Cachar College, Silchar said, “On Saturday, the students protested against such illegal collection and submitted memorandum to the Principal and GB President, but still today the money is being collected at the verbal instruction of the Principal.”
In the memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, the students’ group sought her intervention into the matter so that the college authority refrains from collecting the ‘Incidental Charge’ from the students.
