Improve medical services to expecting mothers, instructs DC Cachar on her visit to SMCH
July 16: Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) with an average of 12,000 annual deliveries is one of the highest in state and has heavy load of patients. This was stated by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar during her visit to the Mother and Child Health Department of SMCH along with the Principal and the Superintendent on Thursday.
DC Jalli interacted with the doctors, nurses and staff during her visit to SMCH. She also spoke with the patients due for discharge and those waiting for delivery. She also visited the paediatric wing of Inborn ICU and Out born ICU. During her interaction with the doctors and nurses, DC Jalli encouraged them to improve medical services to expecting mothers.
Infrastructural challenges and shortage of manpower were highlighted by the departmental head as challenges which needs to be overcome. They also mentioned that due to the presence of large number of attendants in the wards, chances of contamination has increased.
