AUS Committee of NEP – 2020 Meeting Held at Cachar College

Way2barak, March 11 : The second meeting of the Committee on Implementation of NEP-2020 of Assam University, Silchar, was held on Thursday at Cachar College, Silchar. The Chairman of the Committee, Professor Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, presided over the meeting.

At the beginning, he narrated the objective of the meeting and requested all the members to take an active part in the deliberation so that a final draft curriculum structure could be prepared. Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Director College Development Council, Assam University delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Ramanuj Chakraborty, Principal of Karimganj College, and Dr. Murtuja Hussain, Principal of N.C College, Badarpur, initiated the discussion by raising some important issues.

During the day-long discussion, all the members took an active part, and the final draft course curriculum structure, as per NEP 2020, for undergraduate Programmes of affiliated colleges of Assam University was adopted after thorough discussion. However, to ensure the successful implementation of the NEP 2020 course curriculum, some important resolutions were adopted and subsequently incorporated into the final draft course curriculum structure.

It is worth mentioning that the final draft course curriculum structure for UG programmes will be presented to the Academic Council of Assam University in the last part of this month for approval. If the draft course curriculum structure is approved by the Academic Council of Assam University, it will be presented to Professor Rajiv Mohan Panth, the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, for his final consent and approval.

The final course curriculum structure will be implemented in the UG programmes of affiliated colleges under Assam University from the next academic session, i.e., from the months of July-August 2023, if it is approved by the Academic Council as well as by the Vice Chancellor of Assam University. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jayanta Bhattacharjee, the Director of the College Development Council of Assam University.
