July 4: On Saturday, way2barak.com reported an incident of pavements and roads being encroached by shopkeepers by displaying their products, thereby causing immense trouble to pedestrians and commuters on vehicles. Within 24 hours of this report, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli has taken strict action and has vacated the footpath and the street in front of ‘Dayal Hardware’ at Janiganj, Silchar. The chaotic condition due to the display of sale items in the streets of Janiganj was also tweeted by Advocate Joydeep Biswas of Silchar tagging the Deputy Commissioner.
In a tweet, on Sunday morning, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli wrote, “The shop owner has been warned and if next time it happens his stuff would be confiscated. Pavement is now clean.” Many have expressed thanks to the Cachar District Administration for their prompt action.
