Illicit country liquor seized by Excise deptt in Cachar, 4 nabbed

Dec. 16: Silchar Sadar Excise Department carried out raids at Dwarbond, Bordukan, Rosekandi Tea Estate, Dorgakuna Tea Estate, Robidas Para and it’s adjoining areas under Silchar Police Station at around 5.30 AM on Wednesday. A total of four cases of sale and production of illicit country-made liquor were detected wherein 4 persons were apprehended. Out of them, 2 were remanded to judicial custody, whereas 2 more accused were released on bail.

The items seized during the raids are: Fermented Wash about 140 litres (destroyed on the spot in presence of public witness), Illicit Distilled liquor (Sulai) about 5 litres and Distilling apparatus 01 set.
