If electricity bill remains unpaid for more than 2 months, smart meters will be disconnected: APDCL

Nov. 3: Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), Silchar Electrical Sub-Division-2 on Wednesday issued a public notice for those consumers who have installed smart meters. In the said notice, APDCL Silchar Sub-Division-2 stated that, “If your electricity bill remains unpaid for more than two months, your SMART METER may be disconnected without any prior notice.”
APDCL further stated that usually disconnection will be done before noon so that consumers get sufficient time to visit the cash counters to pay the ‘Reconnection Charge’ (Rs.400 for 1-phase and Rs.700 for 3-phase) and get the meter reconnected.
“Please REMEMBER, Reconnection charge is to be paid in CASH only,” added APDCL Silchar. The cash counters remain open till 3 pm on weekdays. Further, no Disconnection will be done on Sundays & Holidays.
