Teacher of NC College Badarpur & a construction worker dies due to electric shock at Kabuganj
August 25: In an unfortunate incident, a teacher of N.C. College, Badarpur died due to electric shock on Tuesday. Babli Paul (46) is the Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science of N.C College. Along with her, a 19 years old construction worker, Kadir Ahmed Laskar also got electrocuted and died on the spot on Tuesday afternoon.
Renovation work was going on in the house of the College teacher at Kabuganj in Cachar district since the last few days. Like all other days, Babli Paul after filling water in the tank from their pond went to turn off the switch of the water pump. She did so by holding the iron grill of the window. The moment she touched the grill, she was instantly electrocuted.
She at once fell down on the floor and died on the spot. Her daughters started to scream aloud for help. Listening to the screaming of the children, one of the construction worker, Kadir Ahmed Laskar (19) rushed to the spot. He tried to lift her by holding on to the same iron grill and in the process was also electrocuted. He too died on the spot. The incident occurred at 1.30 PM on Tuesday.
Babli Paul is survived by her husband Dr Bidyut Paul, Associate Professor of Philosophy, GC College, Silchar, 2 daughters and a host of her kith and kin. Dr.Mortuza Hussain, Principal of NC College, Badarpur expressed deep condolence at the sudden demise of Babli Paul.
