House wife alleged to be murdered by husband & in-laws at Meherpur, FIR lodged

May 24: In a tragic incident, a house wife was alleged to be brutally murdered by her husband and in-laws in Silchar. It was also alleged that the women was ruthlessly killed as her parents failed to meet the dowry demands of the in-laws. She was married 18 months ago and has a 6 months old baby. Leaving the dead body in hospital, the entire family along with the husband absconded. The incident happened in Panchghari village in the area of Meherpur, Silchar.

A tremendous hue and cry erupted due to such gruesome occurrence in the locality. Still now, Police enquiry is going on though none has been arrested. According to the father of the victim, his 20 years old daughter, Bappi Begum was married to Akhtar Uddin Laskar of Panchghari village, who is a driver by profession. But immediately after the marriage, the bride was under constant torture in demand of dowry by Akhtar and his family members.

On Monday night, Akhtar took his wife to Silchar Medical College in an unconscious state. When the doctors declared that she died quite a while ago, the family members left the dead body in the hospital premises and absconded. The dead body lied there unattended for a long time. Afterwards, having informed by some source, Bappi’s father and along with some others from her maternal side took the body in their custody.

The victim’s father accused that his daughter had been brutally choked to death and there were multiple.signs of injuries on her neck. The deceased girl’s father, Jahirul Islam has lodged complaints against Bappi’s husband, Akhtar Uddin Laskar and other members like Matibur Rahman, Akbar Hussain and Jamila Begum at Rangirkhari Town Out Post. Police search operation is going on and the accused are still to be caught.
