Himants holds video conference with 17 Vice Chancellors of Assam to ensure that academic year is not lost
April 23: The monthlong lockdown has brought life to a standstill. All sorts of activities have come to a halt. On a pan Indian basis, all educational institutions are also shut atleast till 3 May, 2020. There has been talks regarding imparting online classes by the teachers. In many places, e-learning platforms are now being used though not in a mass scale or organised form. Assam too is facing similar issues. In order to find a way out, State Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a video conference with 17 Vice Chancellors of Assam.
The virtual discussion with the state Vice Chancellors was done to ensure that the ongoing academic year is not lost. The education minister is learnt to have sought the ideas of the Vice chancellors on devising innovative techniques for the teaching learning framework. Though the outcome of the video conference has not yet been divulged by the minister but it is certain that the education department is trying ways and means to see that the academic activities in the state can be restored in some format.
