Himanta visits Dental College hostel at midnight, assures all not to panic
May 9: One student of Regional Dental College, Kamrup Metro has tested COVID-19 positive on Friday night. The information was shared by State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma at 11.55 PM. Within half an hour of this, the minister rushed to the Girls Hostel of Regional Dental College, Guwahati. He met the girl who tested positive and assured her best care. He further requested all others of the hostel not to panic and maintain social distancing norms.
Taking to his twitter handle, the minister wrote, “These are difficult time. My duty is to give finest attention to all.Following social distance guidelines of govt, met the girl, who tested +, at Regional Dental College at 12 30 am & assured her best care.Also requested students not to panic,ensure social distance.”

As per the last information received, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam went up to 59. Out of these, 34 of them were discharged, whereas, 24 persons were active in the state. Further, there was a sudden spike in the number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district after a bus carrying 45 passengers had arrived in Silchar on Wednesday from Rajasthan’s Ajmer. Till now, 10 passengers from the bus tested positive in Cachar.
