Himanta again becomes Education Minister by replacing Sidhhartha Bhattacharjeeসিদ্ধার্থ ভট্টাচার্যের স্থলে পুনরায় শিক্ষামন্ত্রী হিমন্তবিশ্ব
January19: Mahmora legislator Jogen Mohan and Tinsukia legislator Sanjoy Kishan were sworn in as ministers in Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led state government. The swearing-in ceremony was held on 18 January at the Raj Bhavan, Guwahati. However, on 19 January, the portfolios were distributed among them. Not only were these two legislators allotted portfolios, but some major reshuffle was also made.
Himanta relinquished the portfolio of Education to Sidhhartha Bhattacharjee in 2019, but just within a year the onus of shouldering the responsibility of the department of Education again went to Himanta Biswa Sarma. So from now onwards, Mr. Biswa Sarma will be the Minister of Education (Higher, Secondary & Elementary) along with Finance, Transformation and Development, Health and Family Welfare and PWD.
On the other hand, Siddhartha Bhattacharjee has been shifted from the charge of education to Guwahati Development Department, Law & Justice, Cooperation.
Meanwhile, Bhabesh Kalita was given the charge as Minister of State (MoS) and will handle the portfolios of Irrigation (Independent), Education (assist Cabinet Minister as MoS). Jogen Mohan as MoS will look after Revenue and Disaster Management (Independent), PWD (assist Cabinet Minister as MoS). Sanjoy Kishan, another MoS sworn on 18 January was entrusted Tea Tribe Welfare (Independent), Labour Welfare (assist Cabinet Minister as MoS).
