Head Master of Alombag School suspended for violating social distancing norms during MDM distribution

April 25: The government has adopted a number of measures in the fight against coronavirus. Repeated appeals were also made by the administration to maintain the norms of social distancing, but off and on, such advisories are violated. One such instance of violation of  social distancing came to light when a Head Master of Alombag BT ME School under Salchapra Education Block allowed to gather a number of students in school campus in close proximity of each other while distribution of Mid-Day-Meal (MDM) on 30 March.

The matter was taken quite seriously by the District Education Department. Finally, the in-charge Head Master Monoj Das Purkayastha was placed under suspension by District Elementary Education Officer, Cachar with immediate effect subject to the approval of the Director of Elementary Education, Assam. The order further stated that the Head Master was entitled to draw the subsistence allowance as admissible as per rule. The suspended Head master was also directed to hand over the relevant records to the next senior most person with due consent of the concerned BEEO and ensure that the distribution of MDM is not affected.
