Hazarika heads syndicate network, Himanta is chairman: Pradyut Bordoloi

way2barak, Dec 24: Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi on Tuesday levelled serious allegations against Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika, accusing him of heading an alleged syndicate network operating in the state, while also implicating that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the chairman of its parallel economy.

Addressing a press conference in Sribhumi, Bordoloi claimed that Hazarika functions as the “supreme leader” of the syndicate and alleged that he had recently visited Kaushik Rai to collect accounts related to syndicate operations.

Bordoloi further alleged that a former Superintendent of Police had personally facilitated the movement of nearly 150 trucks loaded with betel nut across the Assam border, raising serious questions about the role of law enforcement in the alleged operations.

Escalating his attack, the Congress leader claimed that four ministers were collectively running syndicate activities under what he termed the Chief Minister’s “gang of four”. He alleged that Minister Hazarika routinely visits areas where such syndicate networks are active.

Referring to recent events, Bordoloi pointed out that Hazarika had attended the inauguration of the Sonai police station a day earlier, alleging that the minister’s movements coincide with areas linked to syndicate activities.
