Haflong-Guwahati & Jatinga-Silchar roads blocked due to heavy rainfall

May 1: Incessant rains since the last few days in the state has disrupted road connectivity at certain places. The National Highway 27 (Haflong – Guwahati road) has been blocked due to heavy rain and has been submerged in water at N. Laikul near Jatinga in Dima Hasao district of Assam. The incessant rains have affected the road communication of Haflong in Dima Hasao district with many other parts of Assam.

Further, a major setback to the transportation connectivity in the state, National Highway connecting Jatinga and Silchar was also blocked due to heavy incessant rainfall. The disrupted road connectivity has become a major cause of concern for the commuters. Many vehicles, including trucks full of goods were stranded as the roads were submerged in water.

Vehicular traffic has been disrupted in both the ways as vehicles from either ways were unable to cross the roads. Landslides have also been reported from certain places in the hills.
