Guwahati Municipal Corporation election rescheduled on 22 April

March 31: State Election Commission earlier announced that the election to 60 wards of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to be held on 19 April, 2022. The counting of votes will be held on May 21. However, due to festivities in the state, demand was raised to reschedule the GMC election. Finally, on Thursday, the State Election Commission rescheduled the polling date from April 19 to April 22. The counting of votes will take place on 24 April, 2022.

A total of 6,98,829 voters will exercise their franchise at 69 polling stations. Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used to record the votes.
