Grenade blast at Sivasagar, 2 killed: ULFA(I) suspected

২২ নভেম্বর : গ্রেনেড বিস্ফোরণে প্রাণ হারালেন ২ ব্যক্তি। বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে বৃহস্পতিবার সন্ধ্যে সাড়ে ৫টা নাগাদ উজান আসামের শিবসাগর জেলার ডিমো চারিয়ালির নিতাই রোডে একটি ব্যবসায়িক প্রতিষ্ঠানের সামনে। মৃত দুই ব্যক্তি প্রতিষ্ঠানের কর্ণধার কমল আগরওয়াল এবং এক ক্রেতা অনুপ গুপ্ত। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, ক্রেতা অনুপ গুপ্ত ঘটনাস্থলেই প্রাণ হারিয়েছে। তবে ব্যবসায়িক প্রতিষ্ঠানের মালিক কমল আগরওয়ালকে গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় ডিব্রুগড়ের আসাম মেডিক্যাল কলেজে ভর্তি করা হলে সেখানে তিনি মারা যান।

এ দিকে, দুর্ঘটনার খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে গেছে পুলিশ। পুলিশের এই বিশেষ দলটি ইতিমধ্যেই তদন্ত শুরু করেছে। প্রাথমিক তদন্তে পুলিশের অনুমান, এই বিস্ফোরণের পেছনে আলফা স্বাধীন গোষ্ঠীর হাত রয়েছে। একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, কিছুদিন আগে এই সংগঠনের পক্ষ থেকে ব্যবসায়ী আগরওয়ালকে অর্থ দেওয়ার জন্য হুমকি দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

November 22: In an incident of suspected grenade blast 2 persons were reported to have been severely injured. The incident took place at around 5.30 PM on Thursday in front of a business establishment on Nitai road at Demow Charilai in Sivasagar district of Upper Assam. The owner of the establishment, Kamal Agarwal sustained serious injuries in the explosion including another individual identified as Anup Gupta. The blast has learnt to have torn apart the hand of one of the injured. As per reports, Kamal Agarwal died on the spot whereas Anup Gupta (40) succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The deceased duo has been identified to be Kamal Agrawal, owner of the shop and a customer Anup Gupta, who were in a close proximity when the medium-intensity blast, suspected to be that of a grenade bomb occurred. According to locals, the duo were inside the shop when a two youths on a motorbike arrived and hurled the bomb.

Initial reports suggest the involvement of ULFA(I) behind the blasts. It has been learnt that the banned outfit threatened Agarwal demanding extortion money few days back.
