Govt approves 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for EWS in medical education

July 30: In a significant move made by the government of India regarding the quota system, the Centre has announced 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in medical college admissions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter handle and posted- ‘Our Government has taken a landmark decision for providing 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section in the All India Quota Scheme for undergraduate and postgraduate medical/ dental courses from the current academic year.
