GM conducts Comprehensive Safety Inspection at Lumding

way2barak, 13 September: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), conducted a thorough inspection at Lumding today (on 13th September 2024) to assess the operational efficiency, infrastructure developments, and overall functioning of the railway network in the division. Senior officials of headquarter and division accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.

            The inspection began with a visit to the 1st Battalion of the base of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) at Lumding, to review the readiness of the forces for dealing with any security threats. Following this, he inspected the Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) shed and the pit line of Lumding railway station. He also inspected a new rake of DEMU train that has been introduced with a new colour scheme that will reduce the maintenance time significantly. The GM also interacted with the Ultrasonic Flaw Detection (USFD) team responsible for rail and weld testing and held discussions with the Permanent Way (P. Way) gang engaged in turnout maintenance, ensuring that track infrastructure is well-maintained and safe for train operations.

Subsequently, the GM held a productive meeting with all divisional officers at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office. He reviewed the division’s performance and encouraged the staff to maintain the highest standards of service and safety. The GM also visited the ongoing developmental works at Lumding Station, including the Amrit Station initiative, aimed at upgrading passenger amenities and station infrastructure.

The day’s program concluded with a rear window trailing inspection of the Lumding – Hojai section, where the GM evaluated track conditions and the overall operational performance of the section. This comprehensive inspection by the GM himself is to ensure NFR’s commitment to maintaining operational excellence and improving the quality of services for passengers. The GM lauded the efforts of all the staff and assured continued support in enhancing railway services in the region.
