Gandhi Bagh: Enquiry Committee has summoned Municipal Chairperson to appear before it on Friday

৫ নভেম্বরঃ গান্ধীবাগে হোটেল, মল, বিনোদন পার্ক নির্মাণ ঘিরে বিভিন্ন সংস্থা-সংগঠনের আপত্তি-আন্দোলনের প্রেক্ষিতে কাছাড়ের জেলাশাসক লায়া মাদ্দুরি গোটা বিষয়টি খতিয়ে দেখার জন্য এক সদস্যের এক তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করেছেন। অতিরিক্ত জেলাশাসক এস সতওয়ান্তকে ওই তদন্তের দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে।

সম্মিলিত সাংস্কৃতিক মঞ্চের প্রতিনিধি দলকে মঙ্গলবার এ কথা জানিয়েছেন। কথাপ্রসঙ্গে তিনি আরও বলেন, আগামী শুক্রবার চেয়ারম্যান নীহারেন্দ্র নারায়ণ ঠাকুরকে তদন্ত কমিটির সামনে উপস্থিত হতে ডাকা হয়েছে। এর আগে জেলা প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে গান্ধীবাগের নির্মাণ কাজ সংক্রান্ত নথিপত্র চাওয়া হয়েছিল পুরসভার কাছে। টিম নীহারেন্দ্র একে কোনও গুরুত্বই দেয়নি। এ বার তদন্ত কমিটির সামনে অবশ্য হাজির হতেই হবে। নইলে আইন অনুযায়ী ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের সুযোগ থাকবে। প্রবীণ আইনজীবী হিসেবে নীহারবাবু নিশ্চিতভাবেই জেলা প্রশাসনকে সে সুযোগ দেবেন না।

সম্মিলিত সাংস্কৃতিক মঞ্চ ও অন্যান্য সহযোগী সংগঠন এ দিন জেলাশাসকের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাত করে গান্ধীবাগে নির্মাণকার্যের অঙ্গ হিসেবে মাটি ভরাটের কাজ যে শুরু হয়েছে,  সে ব্যাপারে তাঁর দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করেন। পরে পৃথকভাবে কথা বলেন তদন্ত কমিটির ভারপ্রাপ্ত অতিরিক্ত জেলাশাসক সতওয়ান্তের সঙ্গেও। প্রতিনিধিদলে ছিলেন অজয় রায়, অরিন্দম দেব, সুবীর ভট্টাচার্য, গোরা রায়, প্রমুখ।

November 5: On the basis of objections and complaints lodged by various organisations as regards construction of Amusement Park, star hotel, shopping complex at Gandhi Bagh, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri has constituted a one man enquiry committee to look into this entire subject. Additional Deputy Commissioner S. Satwant has been given the responsibility of this enquiry. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner to a delegation of Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha on Tuesday.

In this regard, she also mentioned that Silchar Municipal Chairman Niharendra Narayan Thakur was asked to appear before the enquiry committee on Friday. Prior to this, the District Administration asked the SMB to submit all documents related to construction work in Gandhi Bagh. But Team Niharendra did not heed any importance to this. However, this time, he will have to appear before the enquiry committee otherwise action will be taken against him as per legal provisions. It is expected that as a senior advocate, Mr. Thakur will not give this opportunity to the administration.

A delegation of Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha on Tuesday met the Deputy Commissioner and apprised her of the earth filling work which has began in the proposed construction site at Gandhi Bagh.
