G.C. College, Silchar to celebrate Teachers’ Day in digital mode

September 3: The students of Gurucharan College, Silchar have come up with an innovative idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day online in view of the restrictions imposed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. The celebration will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel GCC eAcademia of IQAC, Gurucharan College from 11 am to 12:30 pm on 7th September 2020. The event is being celebrated on 7th September because of the one week state mourning declared by the Government of India as a mark of respect to the departed soul of former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The live event will have both live and recorded performances by present as well as former students of the college. There will also be short video messages by present and former teachers of the college. The event will be visible to everyone in the following YouTube channel : :

In this connection, an organising committee was formed with Dr. Bibhas Deb, Principal of the college as the Chief Patron; Dr. Rajasree Paul, Coordinator, IQAC as the Chairperson and Dr. Madhumita Dey, Associate Professor as the Convenor. The teacher members of the committee are Mr. Jaydeep Bhattacharjee, Mrs. Jayee Nath, Dr. Uttam Roy and Dr. Debipreeta Dutta. There are also 4 students of the college in the organising committee. The student members are Ng. Premjit Singha, Shreyashi Das, Bishwa Saha and Simran Paul.

In a notification issued by the organising committee, it was informed that, “Students of Gurucharan College can present their talent in the program. Record a good quality video of your performance with proper costumes and send it via whatsapp to the screening committee latest by 3rd September 11:30 pin. Selected performances will be broadcast in the live event. Please mention your Name, Class & Semester in the WhatsApp message.”

Guidelines for participation:

Record the video by placing the camera or phone fixed on a rigid surface so that the video is clear and doesn’t shake. Make sure that the surrounding lights are sufficient so that the performers are clearly visible. Make sure that the audio quality is clear. Do not record videos in any noisy place. Record in a closed room with minimal disturbance. At the beginning of each video, please add only the introductory sentence “Hello, I am ..(Name)… from …(Course)… (Semester) ” . For example, “Hello, I am Amit Das from B.Sc Mathematics Honours 4th Sem”.

All the entries will be screened by the organizing committee and only the selected videos be broadcast in the event. e-Certificates will be issued to students whose performances are selected for the live programme.
