Friends Group NGO distribute food packets at Silchar red light area
April 8: The 21 days lockdown in order to combat COVID-19 has become very critical for various sections of the populace. Dearth of regular income is posing serious problems for many to have two square meals in a day. Apart from government initiatives, many organisations have also come forward in distributing essential commodities like food stuff among the poor and needy. Members of Friends Group NGO distributed essential commodities in the red light area at Silchar on Tuesday.
Friends Group NGO distributed 5 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 2 kg potatoes, mustard oil, soyabeen among the female at the Silchar red light area. Speaking to way2barak, members of the NGO said, “We know what we gave is very little in comparision to the demand, yet we believe that smal drops of water makes an ocean. We would appeal other social organisations to come and help those in need at this hour of crisis.” The food packets were distributed following the principle of ‘social distancing.’
