Foundation stone of Assam’s longest flyover laid by CM Sonowal
Oct. 11: In a significant development, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Assam’s longest flyover, a project worth Rs 420.75 crore, from Maligaon to Kamakhya Gate (2992 mtrs) in presence of State PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Biswajit Daimari and other officials. This flyover will be completed within two years from the date of construction.
In a tweet, Sarbananda Sonowal wrote, “Another major infrastructure boost for Guwahati. Glad to lay the foundation stone for construction of Maligaon flyover in Guwahati, along with Shri @himantabiswa, Shri @BiswajitDaimar5 & other dignitaries.” The Chief Minister requested the people of Maligaon area to patiently wait for the completion of the flyover as they will have to go through a little hardship during the construction period.

In his speech, PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new flyover at Maligaon area would greatly reduce the traffic congestion and facilitate smooth movement of vehicles and people in the busy area.
