Former district level cricket player Partha Sarathi Chakraborty dies at 39 in Silchar

July 25: Former district level cricket player, Partha Sarathi Chakraborty breathed his last at 8.22 PM on Saturday in a private nursing home at Silchar. He was only 39. He represented Cachar district in cricket tournaments a number of times. A vivid lover of sports, Partha was also equally reputed as a priest, which he inherited from his father Haripada Chakraborty. He was a regular ‘purohit’ of Ambikapur Purba Para Durga Puja Committee.

His family sources have revealed that he died due to kidney failure. Partha Sarathi Chakraborty is survived by his 2 & a half years old child, his wife, parents, three sisters, one brother and a host of other kith and kin. His death was mourned by many.

Expressing his reaction, former Ward Commissioner and Secretary of Ambikapur Purba Para Durga Puja Committee, Tamal kanti Banik said, “We are very disheartened at this sudden demise of Partha. He was gem of a cricketer. His death is a great loss for Silchar.”
