Former Air Force Chief Calls on Youth to Help Build a ‘Vikshit Bharat’

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২১ জানুয়ারি : ২০৪৭ সালের মধ্যে ‘বিকশিত ভারত’ গড়ার লক্ষ্যে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের আহ্বান জানালেন প্রাক্তন এয়ার চিফ মার্শাল অরূপ রাহা। বুধবার আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ৩৩ তম প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবসের অনুষ্ঠানে আচার্য হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখছিলেন তিনি।

প্রাক্তন বায়ুসেনা প্রধান রাহা এদিন বিশ্বমঞ্চে উদীয়মান শক্তি হিসেবে ভারতের সাম্প্রতিক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকার কথাও উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি বলেন, এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বয়সে নবীন হলেও এর সাফল্যের ব্যাপ্তি অনেক বিশাল। তিনি এরজন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে অভিনন্দনও জানান।

এদিন সকালে নেতাজি সুভাষ মঞ্চের মাঠে পতাকা উত্তোলনের মাধ্যমে প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবসের কর্মসূচির সূচনা করেন আচার্য রাহা। সঙ্গে ছিলেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ ও প্রধান অতিথি প্রাক্তন সেনাপ্রধান মনোজ মুকুন্দ রানাভানে। এরপর ভাষা শহিদ মিনারে পুষ্পার্ঘ্য অর্পণ করা হয়।

উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষা, গবেষণা ও পরিকাঠামোর উন্নয়নের খতিয়ান তুলে ধরে বলেন, গত এক বছরে পাঁচশোরও বেশি গবেষণা প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। বিভিন্ন উদ্ভাবনী প্রকল্পের পেটেন্ট নথিভুক্ত হয়েছে। তিনি বলেন, গত ৩২ বছরে বহু মাইলফলক অর্জন করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়।

প্রধান অতিথি প্রাক্তন সেনাপ্রধান মনোজ মুকুন্দ নারাভানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিবারকে প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে বলেন, উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারত তাঁর হৃদয়ের খুব কাছের। অতীতে একবার শিলচর দিয়ে মিজোরাম সফরের কথা উল্লেখ করে বলেন, আগের শিলচর আর আজকের শিলচরে বহু পরিবর্তন হয়েছে।

অনুষ্ঠানে উদযাপন কমিটির পক্ষ থেকে অতিথিদের সঙ্গে ডিফু ক্যাম্পাসের সহ-উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক শিবাশিস বিশ্বাসকেও সম্মান জানানো হয়। এছাড়াও এদিন মোবাইল প্ল্যানেটরিয়াম, অতিথিশালার সম্প্রসারিত ভবন ও নক্ষত্র বাটিকায় সূর্যঘড়ির আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করা হয়। বিকেলে আয়োজিত হয় মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান। অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন নিবন্ধক প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ, বিত্ত আধিকারিক শুভদীপ ধর, পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক সুপ্রবীর দত্তরায়, উদযাপন কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক সুদীপ্ত রায় প্রমুখ।

Way2barak, January 21 : Former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha called upon students to actively participate in achieving the goal of building a ‘Vikshit Bharat’ by 2047. He was addressing the gathering as the Chancellor at the celebration of the 33rd Foundation Day of Assam University on Wednesday.

On the occasion, the former Air Force Chief also highlighted India’s growing and significant role as an emerging power on the global stage. He remarked that although the university is relatively young in age, the scale of its achievements is quite vast, and he congratulated all those associated with the university for this success.

The Foundation Day programme began in the morning with the hoisting of the national flag at the Netaji Subhas Stage ground by Chancellor Raha, accompanied by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant and Chief Guest, former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane. Floral tributes were later paid at the Language Martyrs’ Memorial.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pant presented an overview of the university’s progress in education, research, and infrastructure, stating that more than 500 research papers had been published over the past year and several innovative projects had been registered for patents. He added that the university has achieved many milestones over the last 32 years.

Chief Guest and former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane extended his greetings to the university community on the occasion of the Foundation Day and said that Northeast India is very close to his heart. Recalling a past visit to Mizoram via Silchar, he noted the many changes that have taken place between the Silchar of the past and the Silchar of today.

At the event, the Celebration Committee also honored Professor Shibashis Biswas, Vice-Chancellor of the Difu campus, along with the guests. On the same day, the mobile planetarium, the extended building of the guest house, and the sundial at Nakshatra Batika were formally inaugurated. In the afternoon, an enjoyable cultural program was organized.

Others present at the event included Registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath, Finance Officer Shubhadip Dhar, Controller of Examinations Suprabir Dutta Roy, and Prof. Sudipta Roy, Chairman of the Celebration Committee, among others.
