Foot over bridge at Silchar Railway Station gets face-lift with majestic illusion painting

July 10: It’s indeed a feast for the eyes. The dull foot over-bridge at Silchar Railway Station has got as if a new lease of life with a brilliant illusion painting. This seems to be sheer aesthetics at its best. The artists who made this possible are local youths who were entrusted this task by the Railway department. In just 6 days, they have transformed the steps of the foot over bridge with colours and patterns, which have already started winning appreciations from the netizens.

The man behind the painting is Gaursankar Nath, who along with his senior students Rakesh Sinha and Kaushal Debnath took in hand this unique venture. Expressing his views, Gaursankar Nath said, “We have painted all new stairs on the foot overbridge at Silchar Railway station. The first is landscape & the second is sunset. We have completed it in just 6 days.”

The artist further went on to say, “This painting (illusion) is special in the sense that you will not be able to understand anything from the front of the painting. The more you see it from distance, the more you will be able to understand the complete painting. Myself along with my senior students have collectively completed this painting.”

Since, Gaursankar Nath posted the pictures of their creation in his Facebook wall, these have become viral in social media. Many have expressed the keen desire of visiting Silchar Railway Station and click selfies standing in front of their art. Artist Gaursankar Nath has further claimed that Silchar Railway Station is the first Railway station in the entire North East, where this fabulous painting can be witnessed.
