Following Bapu’s ideology of ‘Cleanliness is Godliness’, NGO paavan celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Oct. 2: Along with rest of the country, Gandhi Jayanti was also celebrated by various organisations in Barak Valley also amid a host of programmes. NGO Paavan too joined hands in celebrating the birthday of the Father of the Nation in their own humble way. With a view to transmit the Gandhian maxim, “Cleanliness is Godliness”, the members of NGO Paavan dedicated themselves in cleaning their surroundings.

On 2 October, 2021 Team Paavan went to Siva Sundari Narisikshasram and ante natal clinic in Silchar where they organised a cloth distribution programme and thereby received warm cooperation from the institution. Along with clothes, the hospital were also provided cleansing items like soap, shampoo and detergent powder. Both male and female workers were provided these items during the occasion. PAAVAN also offered a token gift of an image of Mahatma Gandhi and a copy of PAAVAN Newsletter to the executives of Nari Sikshasram to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

On the same day, Team PAAVAN also visited Ujjwala Shelter Home and distributed clothes, cleansing materials and sanitary napkins to the females inmates who stay there. Both the programmes were attended by members of PAAVAN- Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, Namrata Nath, Ruhit Paul, Anindita Nandi and Kalpa Bhattacharjee.
