Flood: Rescue and relief operation continued for 2nd consecutive day by CRPF in Cachar
May 18: Rescue and relief efforts is continued for the second consecutive day by CRPF Team. Two rescue and relief teams of CRPF have evacuated large numbers of villagers from Durganagar Part II, Gossaipur Part II & IV which were marooned by the flooding water of Barak River and shifted them to a safer place. CRPF and District Administration are working together round the clock to help people in distress due to these unfolding natural calamities in the Barak Valley.
As the water of river Barak is increasing, many areas in Cachar are inundated. It is in this backdrop that Deputy Commissioner, Kerthi Jalli made a fervent appeal to the people to stay indoors. She said, “Unless on emergency services, I appeal to public to not step out of their houses. There is no reason to step out during this flood season. Request public to stay indoors and not to step out of their houses as water levels are rising across the district and more rainfall is predicted tonight. Those whose houses have been inundated may kindly approach their nearest Relief Camps. All possible services will be offered throughout. District administration is working for you night and day.
