Fire engulfs a van at Udharbond, 1 girl injured

July 5: In a bizarre incident, a Maruti van was reduced to ashes at Udharbond in Cachar. Eye witnesses revealed that a van suddenly stopped near Udharbond electricity office. However, due to some technical snags, the van stopped almost in the middle of the road. At that time, 3 passengers were there inside the van. The driver tried in vain to restart the vehicle. He then came out of the van.

Meanwhile, all of a sudden, the van caught fire. The passengers jumped out of the vehicle, but one girl sustained injury. She was then taken to the nearby health centre. People from the surrounding area came out seeing the incident and also rang the fire service. Though firemen doused the flames, but by that time, the van was completely burnt.
