FIR filed against Kangana Ranaut for hurting religious sentiments of Sikh community
Nov. 23: An FIR was registered Tuesday against actress Kangana Ranaut by members of the Sikh community for allegedly hurting their religious sentiments by making derogatory statements in her social media profile.
Acting on a complaint filed by one Amarjit Singh Sandhu, the FIR was filed at Mumbai’s Khar police station under Section 295A of the IPC (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). In the Instagram story posted on November 20, Kangana Ranaut allegedly referred to the entire Sikh community as “Khalistani terrorists” and said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi “crushed them like mosquitoes under her shoe”.
Following the announcement of repeal of the farm laws by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, Kangana allegedly made the statements on Instagram. The Sikh community on Monday carried out a protest outside Kangana Ranaut’s house in Khar and demanded police action against her.
